How Dark Fiber helped seal a $5M deal
Use Case Challenge:
A network service provider (NSP) needed to expand their infrastructure to address the growing needs of their customers in the Great Lakes. In that region, it was rare to find a carrier who could provide the necessary fiber assets, as well as depth of experience maintaining networks.

Solution:
With Windstream Wholesale, the NSP was able to quickly extend their network footprint with a tailored, cost-efficient and secure dark fiber architecture.

Result:
“A collaborative partnership with our customer solidified this custom-designed network overlay where we were able to match some of our dark fiber routes with their network expansion plans. We have good fiber assets in many underserved markets, especially in the Midwest, so this was a good fit for both of us,” stated John Nishimoto, VP of business development, Windstream Wholesale.

By leveraging our vast 150,000-mile nationwide fiber footprint, Dark Fiber Services allow you to build and maintain complete control of your network.

A few of the benefits include:

  • Connection to Tier 1, 2 and 3 sites
  • Flexibility provided by customer-defined bandwidth and latency
  • Multiple contract options (i.e., IRU and lease)
  • Dense regional markets in NY, NC, IL, KY and TX
  • Many unique routes, including but not limited to, Montreal to New York (via Albany) and Chicago to Northern Virginia, St. Louis, Indianapolis or Detroit
