November News
We’re excited to share our newest feature: the ability to send and receive business text messages on the OfficeSuite UC® White Label Desktop and Mobile app.
Introducing the Dynamic IP product suite
Starting this month, Windstream Enterprise Resale will offer a Dynamic IP suite of products, providing voice and data services over a single connection—Windstream-provided or third-party Internet access. Within our Customer Portal Tool (CPT), you can quote and order all your circuit-based services.

For Windstream-provided access, voice and data services efficiently co-exist on the same circuit by incorporating the use of dynamic bandwidth allocation. Voice traffic receives priority treatment, and the bandwidth is immediately made available to other applications (such as Internet access and private data applications) once a call terminates.

There are three call path handoff types available for Dynamic IP services ordered through Windstream-provided circuits:

  • SIP Call Path: Provides a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) handoff to the customer’s equipment, which is 100% IP
  • PRI/Digital Call Path: Provides a TDM trunk handoff (PRI or CAS) to the customer’s equipment
  • Analog Call Path: Provides an analog handoff to the customer’s equipment

Furthermore, Dynamic IP voice services can be added over an existing third-party Internet circuit. The following handoff types are available:

  • SIP Call Path: Provides a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) handoff to the customer’s equipment, which is 100% IP
  • Analog Call Path: Provides an analog handoff to the customer’s equipment

PRI/Digital Call Path over an existing third-party Internet service can also be supported when you or your end-users purchase and install an Integrated Access Device (IAD) that will convert the SIP Call Paths to a PRI/Digital Call Path handoff.

Customer setup tips for OfficeSuite UC® White Label
To fully optimize your OfficeSuite UC White Label service, please make sure your end-user routers, firewalls and network are setup according to these guidelines.

  • For OfficeSuite UC White Label phones that will be on the same network as your data, we recommend enabling Flow Control (Local QoS) on the local router/managed switch for the phone IP addresses in order to prioritize voice traffic. Each OfficeSuite UC White Label phone requires approximately 100Kb/s priority, so this will help prioritize traffic for the phones over any bandwidth-intensive applications, such as streaming and downloading.
  • If you use hubs on the network, you will need to replace them with switches. Using hubs will cause issues with voice packets, as hubs are not designed to handle VoIP networks. If a managed switch is being utilized, the minimum requirements are 100/full duplex with multicasting enabled and IGMP Snooping disabled.
  • Devices and services such as Overhead Paging, Door Buzzers, Cordless Phones, Enhanced Dial Tone and Digital Voice Lines with SIP ALG may cause issues since each manufacturer handles SIP headers differently. If you are using any of these services or related hardware, SIP ALG will need to be disabled from the router or firewall before the installation occurs. Once disabled, be sure to reboot the equipment.
  • Use Permissible Router/Firewall Subnets to allow phones to communicate with OfficeSuite UC White Label.

Grandfathering POTS
Technology has been driving market demand and reducing the investment in POTS significantly in recent years. As a result, both Windstream Enterprise and our partners are shifting investments and support to other areas that offer greater potential and growth.

Effective December 1, Windstream Enterprise Resale will no longer accept POTS orders for new users. Please note, we will continue to support changes and disconnects for existing users.

We apologize for any inconvenience and encourage you to pursue our alternate technologies such as Dynamic IP Analog Handoff or Online Fax solutions.
